Marie Antoinette (2005)

Marie Antoinette is a PBS documentary that explores the life of perhaps one of the most misunderstood political figures in history. The DVD consists of the feature program on Marie Antoinette and a special feature about how the movie was created.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching this movie. First, the reenactments and sound effects were very effective. Second, the plot flowed chronologically and encompassed a great variety of information, from Marie's personal life to the economic situation at the time of her reign. Finally, the unbiased, sympathetic approach that the documentary took in telling the tragic story of the queen was an efficient and respectful way to educate the viewers about this sensitive topic.

I definitely I felt that two hours of my time had been well spent after watching this documentary. This movie is an entertaining and informative way to learn about an important topic in history, literature, movies, and even pop culture. Now I can feel a little more confident in my knowledge of the French Revolution!
